Missing In America

Plagued with guilt over lives lost under his command in the Vietnam War, Jake Neeley has lived alone in a remote cabin in the woods for the past 30 years, with little contact with other people. His life of isolation comes to an abrupt end when an old army buddy arrives at his doorstep with his young daughter, who is half Vietnamese. He is dying of lung cancer from exposure to agent orange and wants to leave his little girl in Jake's care.

Feeling totally inadequate and terrified of the responsibility, Jake refuses. Trusting his unwavering faith in Jake, the father sneaks away in the middle of the night, leaving his daughter behind.

The little girl brings back memories and feelings the lonely woodcutter has struggled to forget. Over time, she gradually breaks down Jake's self-imposed exile, and becomes his salvation.
